The Catholic Church is a universal family of one billion members.
The Church was established by Jesus Christ our Lord when He declared to St. Peter in Matthew 16, “You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of hell shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven" (Matthew 16:18-20).
The role of St. Peter continues today through the Pope. For twenty centuries, the Catholic Church has remained faithful to the Word of God that was passed on through Scripture and Tradition.
The Church seeks to share the person of Jesus Christ—because He alone is the answer to the desire of every heart. The Church also seeks to live out the Gospel in the world in all aspects of society. It seeks to care for the weakest members of our society—the poor, the orphaned, the widowed, the sick, the elderly, and the unborn. The sacraments of the Catholic Church help Her members to draw closer to God while at the same time give them the grace needed to live out their faith in the world.
FOCUS is fully committed to following the teachings of the Church. We seek to dynamically and joyfully live out and pass on these teachings in our work on the college campus.
